Gas

With Calor announcing that they are now discontinuing the 3.9kg Propane, 4.5kg Butane and the Calor 6Lite gas bottles, we are finding more and more customers struggling to get hold of Gas; and if you don’t currently own a Calor 6KG gas bottle then it’s even harder.

With that said, we are extremely pleased to announce that we have recently teamed up with GasBank and have now become an Official Stockist of the GasBank LS ( Light Steel ) and the GasBank SLIM Kevlar 5KG Gas Cylinder. The main benefit of both of these Gas Cylinders is that not only are they refillable (whether it is empty or part full), but they are incredibly lightweight and cost effective compared to traditional non-refillable gas bottles.

GasBank Cylinders are yours to keep with no Rental Fee once bought; all we would recommend is a cylinder test every 10 years.

GasBank LS 11kg - light DUPLEX steel.

Fittings

The cylinder is equipped with a UK filling adaptor, this can be removed leaving the common  European G12 inlet - outlet valve with rubber sealing, known also as KLF - Kleinflashe (G.12). Valve thread is W 21.8 x 1/14 lh. You can then fit different adaptors to the G12 valve allowing you to fill the bottle in countries across the world such as: Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Additional refilling adapters for different countries are available and can be purchased if necessary.

Do I need to change my gas fittings?

In short the answer is No, as long as you have the standard Propane bayonet pigtail then you will be fine. If you run on butane then you will need a Propane pigtail that can be supplied with the bottle at around £17.

Does the bottle automatically stop filling?

Definitely, the automatic OPD (Overfill Protection Device) stops filling when the gas level reaches 80%. This will automatically stop the LPG pump forcing gas into the bottle, to allow the gas to vapour inside the bottle.

Is it heavy being Steel?

High-strength two-phase low-carbon steel DUPLEX allows a reduction in the weight of the cylinder to 8.5kg, with a maximum weight of the gas inside of 11.4 kg - for the GasBank LS 11kg cylinder. This giving you a total weight of only 19.9kg ( Approx ).

Do they need Maintaining?

The two-phase steel with corrosion protection of the highest class C5-M, guarantees a long cylinder lifespan without the need of painting the cylinder. We just recommend a bottle pressure test after 10 years.

Are they easy to move about?

The innovative and convenient plastic handle ensures you have a firm grip of the bottle just like other bottles and does not compromise the protection of the valve.

Environmentally friendly

A lower carbon footprint in production and transport compared to standard steel cylinders, contributes to the protection of the environment.

GasBank 5kg Kevlar Super-light Bottle

Why is this cylinder so light?

GasBank technology uses ultra strong Aramid (also known under trade names Kevlar or Twaron). The selection of Aramid over Fibreglass is driven by performance and durability. Looking at specific strength it even beats carbon fibres and you would need around 10 times more fibreglass to get the same strength. Also, the lifespan of Aramid compared to fibreglass is much longer.

So how much does it weigh?

The cylinder is made from a lightweight composite material for durability and high protection properties with a net weight of 9.1KG cylinder is only 4.1KG when empty ( Approx ).
